What is sustainability?
Sustainability is defined as "forms of progress that meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs." If we break that down, it means what we need now to survive, without putting the future generations at risk of meeting the health requirements. If something is said to be sustainable it should last forever.
How can we sustainably feed the population using tropical rainforests?
•Reduce global food consumption
The amount of waste that is put out into the world from unhealthy foods, packaging and more is ridiculous. There is too much waste and not enough space to put it. Humans, as a whole are becoming more and more obese. We need to reduce the amount of obese people in the world, and we can stop producing bad foods in place of keeping the good foods we started with.

•Increased food production on existing land
The second part to this solution is vital as to prevent further destruction of the worlds biomes. Tropical rainforests are under great threat of dying out because companies are forced to expand to produce enough food for the increasing population, comfortably. Local farmers and commercial businesses must learn to farm and harvest smarter, by developing new methods and technologies to increase production rates and efficiency.
